- Splash diving world championship
 | And the bigger the better - as this is the splash diving world championships. Over a hundred divers from Germany and as far afield as Australia and the Philippines travelled to the southern German city of Nuremberg to make the biggest waves in the swimming pool. But it's not a simple case of just jumping into the water. This is no contest for vertigo sufferers. The divers have to jump from a ten metre high board - and the really fearless leapt off this elevated platform. Most of the points are awarded for the size of the splash. But the divers get extra marks for acrobatic moves like flips and turns. The championships' organiser Oliver Schill says this lets the divers show off some special moves: SOUNDBITE: Oliver Schill, Organiser of splash diving world championships, saying (German): "The special thing about splash diving is that's it's freestyle, so the athletes, like in snowboarding, have their own styles. The special thing about that compared with high diving is that instead of trying to keep the splashing to a minimum, the bigger the splash the better." While splash diving may not be an Olympic discipline yet - these athletes are still proud to secure a place on the podium - and parade their medals before the press. Joanna Partridge, Reuters
