- Lost Childhood Books; Vivid Memories
 | The books you have in childhood can influence your whole life. My mother took time to choose books that were beautifully illustrated and/or that were well-written. Many were based in other cultures such as "Ping" the story of a duck who lived on the Yangtze River in China. This book was my top favorite and gave me a lifelong live of China. Like a lot of books from childhood, "PING" got lost over the years and replacing it was difficult because it went out of print. I NEVER forgot that book. Decades later I was in a book store and there it was - reprinted. I picked it up and tears came into my eyes as I had found an old friend from a precious part of my childhood. Do you want to find an old book you remember but can’t find? Below are two urls that may help you do just that along with one that will help parents today choose books. Many of your favorites have been translated from English into other languages and these are available here well as many translated from another language into English. These books are not only a joy for children; they are useful to adults learning a foreign language. This week they feature Beatrix Potter's "Tales of Peter Rabbit" in Spanish.
