The Nikkei news source reports that the Japanese publishers Shogakukan and Shueisha will join forces to directly publish manga in Europe starting in the fall of 2009. The two companies plan to publish in France first, and then expand to Great Britain, Spain, and the other European countries.

- 1st Death Note Film to Play in Canadian Theaters
Viz Pictures, an affiliate of Viz Media , has announced that the first live-action film based on Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata 's Death Note manga will run in about 60 Cineplex Entertainment and Empire Theatres locations in Canada on September 15. There will be one showing on that Monday at each location at 9:00 p.m. local time.
